A Touch of Humor: The Great Golf Cart Escape
One of the more memorable moments of my trip involved a slightly less glamorous mode of transportation: the ubiquitous golf cart. The resort is quite expansive, and golf carts are the preferred method for getting around. One evening, after a particularly delicious dinner at one of the specialty restaurants, my friend and I decided to take a golf cart back to our room. Now, neither of us had ever driven a golf cart before, and let’s just say our navigational skills were… lacking. We ended up taking a rather scenic, albeit unintended, detour through the service entrance, past the loading dock, and nearly into a delivery truck.
The looks on the faces of the delivery drivers were priceless. We, on the other hand, were dissolving into fits of laughter. After a few more wrong turns and some helpful directions from a very amused security guard, we finally made it back to our room, our sense of direction slightly bruised, but our spirits high. It was a reminder that sometimes, the most memorable travel experiences aren’t the perfectly planned ones, but the spontaneous, slightly chaotic moments that add a touch of humor to the journey.
